Situated in the grounds of Pump Cottage, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and enjoying views in either direction; Thelma’s Cottage has been recently converted to provide comfortable accommodation for up to two adults and two children.
Accommodation:-
Downstairs - Fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, ice-box ‘fridge, microwave and washing machine. Bathroom with W.C., hand basin and shower over bath. Small lounge with fold-away dining table, Satellite TV and DVD player.
Upstairs - Double bedroom with 4’6” double bed (and two single beds available) T.V Duvets (or sheets and blankets on request) plus two pillows per person, linen and towels are included.
Electricity is included. Cot and high-chair are available on request.
There is a small patio with garden furniture at the front of the cottage (facing South).
Pump Cottage has a large garden with small (amateur!) croquet lawn, pond with bridge over and a built-in barbecue which visitors to Thelma’s Cottage are welcome to use.Pets and children of all ages are welcome.
Footpaths and bridleways meander through the village and on the surrounding hills, making it a perfect place for exploring deep into the Dorset countryside. There is an abundance of wildlife to be found locally (also our resident peacock and dog!).
The South-West Coast Path and Jubilee Path provide breathtaking views, while cyclists can take advantage of quiet country lanes or follow the National Cycle Network routes.There are two pubs and a tea-room within two miles, all within the delightful village of Upwey, with its ancient Wishing Well. Four miles away is the ancient town of Dorchester, with its Iron-age Hill Fort, Roman town house and many other sites of historic interest. Also four miles away are picturesque Abbots bury (with its Sub-Tropical Gardens, Swannery and Children’s Farm) and Weymouth - the complete coastal resort.
From the town’s beautiful crescent-shaped golden sandy beach, historic harbour, marina, country park and nature reserve to the bustling, rejuvenated town centre, there’s something for everyone. Weymouth is a ferry port for France and day trips can be taken to the Channel Isles.
The well-known Chesil Beach (part of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, stretching from Lyme Regis to Weymouth) is also a short drive away.Directions:- Upwey lies on the A.354 between Dorchester and Weymouth, and we are on the western outskirts of the village on the road to Friar Waddon and Portesham.
